Driving Digital Transformation Across KMAT: Enhancing Teaching, Learning, Engagement and Safeguarding Through Technology

Posted on: 17/07/2025

Since the inception of the Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust (KMAT) significate steps have occurred to align and integrate the IT systems to a Trust-wide solution as it ensures consistency, efficiency, and improved collaboration. Standardised systems mean staff can share resources, training, and best practices more easily, reducing duplication of effort and saving valuable time. For students, it creates a seamless digital learning environment, especially for those who move between schools within the Trust. Centralised IT also enhances data security, simplifies support, and allows the Trust to invest in higher-quality tools and infrastructure through economies of scale—ultimately improving teaching, learning, and operational effectiveness across all schools.

Enhancing Classroom Management and Parent Engagement with ClassCharts

In September The Westwood Academy will see the introduction of ClassCharts, classroom management software that helps teachers track and improve student behaviour, engagement, and progress. It allows staff to award or deduct points for behaviour, monitor attendance, set homework, and communicate directly with parents and students. The platform provides real-time insights into individual and class performance, enabling more targeted support and intervention. It also helps strengthen the home-school connection by giving parents a clear view of their child's school experience.

Strengthening the Home-School Connection with ClassCharts

ClassCharts provides parents real-time insights into their child’s behaviour, attendance, homework, and progress at school. This transparency helps parents stay informed and engaged in their child’s education, allowing them to celebrate successes or address concerns promptly. By offering a clear overview of daily school life, ClassCharts strengthens communication between home and school, enabling parents to support their child more effectively and work in partnership with teachers to improve outcomes.

I am delighted to be introducing ClassCharts at The Westwood Academy. The platform will provide students with a powerful tool to help them seamlessly manage and monitor all aspects of their school life. The dedicated parent app offers real-time updates on their child’s behaviour, attendance, and homework, allowing families to stay informed in their child’s education.

For The Westwood Academy, the introduction of ClassCharts will help build a stronger, more connected school community—one where parents feel truly involved and students are consistently recognised and rewarded for their efforts. Mr Andrew Clough, Assistant Headteacher at The Westwood Academy

Empowering Teachers with Smarter Classroom Tools

ClassCharts is a powerful tool for teaching as it streamlines classroom management by allowing teachers to quickly record behaviour, track attendance, and set homework in one central platform. It provides instant data on student engagement and progress, helping identify patterns and support needs early. With customizable seating plans and real-time behaviour tracking, teachers can create a more structured and positive learning environment. Additionally, the platform improves communication with parents and staff, promoting consistency and collaboration across the school.

Simon Bennett, Deputy Head of Kenilworth school said:

‘From a classroom teacher perspective, it’s a one stop place where you can award house points for positive behaviour which we want to promote in class and around school. It also serves as a behaviour recording tool for monitoring behaviour trends. It was invaluable during covid as it allowed, and still allows us, staff members to contract class teachers. It removes any interpersonal barriers for students asking for support, including out of lessons. It is a place where all relevant information about students including SEN status are at teachers’ fingertips allowing them to implement strategies to meet the needs of all.  From a parent’s point of view, they can see real time information about their child’s achievements and behaviour, thereby improving communication with school’.

CPOMS: Enhancing Safeguarding and Wellbeing in the KMAT

CPOMS (Child Protection Online Monitoring System) is a comprehensive safeguarding and wellbeing solution designed to support schools in managing and monitoring child protection, welfare, and pastoral concerns. It enables staff to securely record incidents, track student chronologies, and collaborate effectively within the school community. The system allows for the seamless sharing of information with external agencies, such as social services and local authorities, ensuring timely interventions and support. CPOMS also offers data visualization tools, empowering school leaders to identify trends and make informed decisions to enhance student safety and wellbeing. Trusted by over 20,000 educational institutions, CPOMS plays a pivotal role in creating a safer and more supportive environment for students.

“I have seen the way in which the use of centralised systems can improve communications and partnership working between home and school by empowering parents and staff to monitor a child’s behaviour and progress through the use of rewards or sanctions and the quality of their work. I am delighted that this is being introduced across both schools, as it will promote consistency in provision across our schools and improve collaboration as staff members can share knowledge and experience of individual children, their learning needs and they can recognise successes for all across the trust.” Said Hayden Abbot, CEO

KMAT's Ongoing Commitment to Innovation in Education

The introduction of ClassCharts and CPOMS across the Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust marks a significant step forward in enhancing the educational experience for students, parents, and staff alike. These powerful digital tools streamline classroom management, strengthen communication, and ensure robust safeguarding and wellbeing practices. Looking ahead, the Trust is committed to exploring even more technological innovations, striving to create an ever more connected, efficient, and inspiring learning environment. By embracing technology, KMAT continues to enhance education and empower every student to reach their full potential.
