Fixed term contract from 3 June 2024

The Trust

Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust has a vacancy to cover a period of maternity leave for a Teacher of Music from June 2024 to be based at Kenilworth School and Sixth Form, on a 0.6fte basis working Monday to Wednesday.

Our recent Ofsted report of November 2023 rates the school as Outstanding in all five areas, maintaining our Outstanding status from the Ofsted inspection of 2013. This is an exciting time to join us as we have moved into a newly built, bespoke school on Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth in September 2023.

The school is well resourced to support the delivery of the subject. The post holder will join a supportive team with opportunities for professional development

Our educational ethos encourages our students to be responsive, resilient, to have reasoning, be reflective and resourceful in their learning.

The Role and Department

The Music department is busy and thriving with a total of three teachers. We are an Incorporated Society of Musicians Bronze Award department as well as a Music Mark department. We were nominated by the Warwickshire Music Hub to become a Music Mark department in recognition of the value and commitment the school has placed on music education. We have a close working relationship with the Warwickshire Music Hub and Kenilworth School and Sixth Form is the Central Area hub.

The subject is extremely popular at GCSE and A Level, where we follow the Eduqas specification. From September 2023, we have implemented the WJEC Vocational Qualification in Performing Arts (Music Technology pathway) at Key Stage 4.

Our flourishing extra-curricular programme includes a Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, String Orchestra, Brass Ensemble. We will be forming ‘The Guitar Experience’ which will be student led. These ensembles all perform in our annual Winter and Spring concerts. The Music department works very closely with the Drama department to put on our annual whole school production. Past productions include Legally Blonde, Our House, The Wizard of Oz and most recently Oh What a Lovely War. A keen interest and commitment is therefore required to support the extra-curricular programme.

We regularly attend live music performances, and the department is a member of the Warwick Arts Centre education scheme. This allows us to take students to orchestral concerts free of charge. On top of this, we have also attended the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall too.  Our ensembles have represented the school in the local community and in the Music for Youth festivals.

The successful applicant should be aspirational, creative, dynamic, innovative and have a genuine engaging enthusiasm for the teaching and learning of music.

As a Teacher of Music you should be able to teach music across all ability ranges from KS3 to KS5.

We can offer you:

  • Excellent CPD opportunities
  • A supportive team of colleagues within the Department and across the school
  • A positive, community school environment with an innovative learning culture
  • A dedicated and forward looking management team, with highly skilled staff upholding high expectations and aspirations for our students
  • PiXL network access and other on-line resources to support the development of student learning
  • A wide enrichment programme in which you can participate
  • Employee well-being benefits via our healthcare programme to include health diagnostics, physiotherapy, 24/7 GP and mental health support, retail and gym discount, free flu vaccination, a laptop, free parking and electric car charging and use of an on-site fitness suite

.

We would welcome applications from ECTs or experienced teachers.
